Taking centre stage at the age of 38 is not something that everybody is able to do. But this is exactly what he did. The Sassuolo goalkeeper made at least five crucial interventions at San Siro as Milan piled on the pressure. But there was no way through: Pegolo was the hero of the day.

He came on to win the “Derby della Lanterna”, which goes a long way to explaining his high rating this week. His left foot is something out of the ordinary and his goals are never run of the mill. His talent is undisputed, and Sampdoria should be able to survive relegation with ease if he finds consistency. 

Giampaolo PAZZINI (G 7.5; C 7.5; 7)     Hellas Verona 3-3 Torino

With Verona 3-0 down, he led their fightback after the break. Over a 30-minute time period, he did everything: he scored, made a big contribution to the hosts’ second and created numerous dangerous opportunities. A goal two years on from his last one in the Italian top flight, and what a game to get it in.
