Emil Audero was the best Italian player on matchday 16 in Serie A according to the top three sports newspapers in Italy.

The Sampdoria goalkeeper produced a brilliant display, saving a penalty as the Blucerchiati got the better of Inter. His performance merited an average score of 7.83: the Corriere dello Sport-Stadio awarded him a 8, while Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport both gave him a 7.5.

Audero was alert from the off, tipping Young’s powerful strike over the bar and keeping out Sanchez’s spot-kick in the 12th minute. After the restart, he prevented a Nerazzurri equaliser, saving a Lukaku header and denying Martinez at his near post.
