Ciro Immobile rated as best Italian player on matchday 13 by the media
The Lazio striker scored and registered an assist during Lazio’s victory over NapoliMonday, December 21, 2020
Ciro Immobile was the best Italian player on matchday 13 in Serie A according to the top three sports newspapers in Italy.
Lazio returned to winning ways in the league, beating Napoli in no small part to an inspired performance from Immobile, who scored and wore the captain’s armband. His display merited an average score of 7.5: the Corriere dello Sport-Stadio awarded him a 8, while Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport gave him a 7.5 and a 7 respectively.
He almost broke the deadlock immediately, controlling the ball with his chest and firing narrowly over. However, he didn’t have to wait long to open the scoring, finding the net with a lovely header. It was his eighth Serie A goal of the season and the 143rd time he’d scored in the Italian top flight during his career. At the start of the second half, he provided his second assist of the campaign, supplying the pass that Luis Alberto finished off. Having won the Serie A Golden Boot last season, he’s continuing to find the net this campaign: in 2020, he’s scored 27 goals in Serie A, with only Cristiano Ronaldo (33) having done better.
