Brescia have returned to the top flight after eights seasons in Serie A and they’ve placed faith in the players who helped the Rondinelle earn promotion to Serie A. One of these is the young 19-year-old midfielder Sandro Tonali who has already linked up with the Italy set-up and he has a bright future ahead of him.
In the big win at Udinese against a direct rival in the race to avoid the drop, Tonali put in a quality performance that was praised widely in the sporting press. He helped boss the midfield for Corini’s side, moving the ball, managing the game and showing an ability to play it in behind.
Tonali hasn’t gone short on being compared to illustrious figures after being called up to the Italy team for a training camp in November and making his Under-21 debut in March. Against Udinese, he showed composure while dictating the tempo in the middle while he kept moving and never gave Udinese to work with moving forward. His defensive contributions are also proving to be a real bonus. He can be an all-action midfielder and more is sure to follow over time and with more hard work.
