He played the full match, scored one goal, won his side a penalty and displayed a huge amount of quality for the Grifone: it was a fantastic debut for Andrea Pinamonti, who, after making his mark for Frosinone last season, now has the prestigious responsibility of forming a key part of Genoa’s attack.
The hard work put in over the summer, which was evident towards the end of the game as fatigue set in, clearly hasn’t taken anything away from the Italian’s performance, with the forward displaying composure throughout and giving the Rossoblu’s attacking play a new lease of life. His goal -- a powerful and precise strike -- wasn’t surprising given what he can produce with his impressive left foot.
Could this be the season where the 20-year-old, who came through Inter’s youth ranks, really comes to the fore? Italian football can only support this emerging talent and the start he’s made has been more than convincing.
