Andrea Belotti is chosen as best italian player on matchday four of the league
The Torino striker’s media popularity soars thanks to his brace against CagliariTuesday, October 20, 2020
Andrea Belotti was the best Italian player on matchday four in Serie A according to the ratings of the three main national sports newspapers in Italy.
The “Gallo” scored a brace which, for his Torino side, was not enough to avoid the home defeat against Cagliari (2-3). His performance earned him an average score of 7.83, from the 8 received from Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport and the 7.5 given by Corriere dello Sport-Stadio.
Belotti gave the Toro the lead with a penalty kick after just four minutes of play. Then, four minutes after the break, he made it 2-2 with a left-footed shot in the middle of the penalty area.
Thanks to the two goals scored on Sunday, Belotti is now the league’s top scorer: he is level with Caputo, Gomez, Ibrahimovic, Lozano and Lukaku on four.
But that is not all. His brace against Cagliari takes him to 83 league goals in the Granata shirt, overtaking Granata legend Valentino Mazzola. Belotti has become Torino's third most prolific goalscorer of all time in Serie A, behind Graziani (97) and Pulici (134).
